The basic T-Rex Trader chart is composed of the following important components:
Chart Image – The chart image displays the price data for the desired instrument. When the mouse is on the chart, you can use the arrow keys and mouse wheel to change the scale, and drag left/right (and up/down) to change the location of the chart in its display window.
Time Axis – Displays the time increments for the chart. It auto reformats depending on the time window being displayed. When the mouse is on the Time Axis, you can use the arrow keys or left click and drag left/right to and change the time scale.
Price Axis – Displays the price increments for the chart. The price axis also displays a box showing the open, high, low and current price for the current period. When the mouse cursor is on the price axis, you can use the arrow keys, mouse wheel or drag up/down to change the price axis spacing.
Chart Trader – This is a region to the far right that can be opened at your discretion. The Chart trader allows you to set up, enter and control trades from the chart. The trader being shown is “Scale Trader”. The chart trader can display a bar or a price ladder. The bar is being displayed.
On Chart Status Boxes – Various status boxes appear on the chart; which include Trade Summary (optional), Trade Messages (Optional), “Go To Start” which is displayed when the current bar is not being displayed, “Count Down Box” which shows the time, accumulated ticks or volume for the current bar and the time range being displayed.
Header – The header shows the instrument being displayed and the interval, tick, or volume setting for the bars being displayed.
Tool Bar – The tool bar at the very top of the chart contains various controls that allow you to do some very interesting things.

Grid Controller
The grid controller is activated by selecting “Grid” on the chart’s tool bar. The grid controller allows you to open and close multiple charts and organize them.
You can move charts to new locations using the grid controler or directly by selecting the chart header and dragging to a new location.

The grid controller settings above produce the chart below.

Tying Charts Together On the boundary of each adjacent chart is a little dot. Select the dot to turn on / off the chart tie feature. When you tie two charts with different symbols, a pair of arrows will appear allowing you to select the direction of propagation. When two or more charts are tied together, changing the symbol in one will cause all tied charts to be effected.
Windows, Charts and Symbols
Each opened window is associated with a symbol which is displayed in the window header at the top.
If the window is displaying multiple indicators and multiple charts, then selecting the symbol on the chart header will transition the window and all of its indicators instantly to the new symbol.
Currently indicators are placed above and below a chart (or group of charts) not technically on the chart.
The indicators however act like they are on the chart, which means if you drag a MACD or Stochastic left and right, the chart will follow and vice-versa.
Subsequent versions of T-Rex Trader will allow placement of indicators anywhere – literally in places you would never expect, but make perfect since (some restrictions will apply).
Live Feed vs. Simulated Feed The feed type is controlled using the "Live Feed / Simulated Feed" toggle. If you have a trade active on the live feed when you switch to simulated feed, your trade will still be active. T-Rex Trader will automatically create a "SimFeed" account that you can practice trading on. Whenever your in Simulated Feed, a transparent overlay will appear on the chart to let you know this. ![]()

Automatic Scaling vs. Fixed
Automatic Scaling
The price axis of charts will be automatically scaled so its fits properly. You can drag a chart left and right but not up and down. T-Rex Trader will maintain an average center line for the chart and adjust the price axis range and upper and lower values as it is moved.
Fixed Scaling
The price axis is usually fixed – some liberty is taken by T-Rex Trader to ensure the integrity of the chart. You can drag the chart left and right, and up and down. You can never drag the chart completely out of view; some portion of the chart will always be visible. Moving the chart around doesn’t affect the price axis scale.
Automatic Attenuation for out of range bars
Bars with bad or questionable values, such as an abnormally large range for the hi – low, are automatically attenuated according the following rule; The largest price range for a bar used in scaling the price axis is five times the running average of the past seven bars, excluding any bars that were attenuated.

Minimize Maximize
A chart or collection of charts can be minimized by selecting the timer above and to the left of the chart. When a chart is minimized, only its header will appear, the image will be removed from view. To maximize and show the chart, select the timer.
A chart cannot be deleted form a window. The chart is an integral part of the window and maintains important information so that other components can work properly.
If your chart suddenly disappears, check to see if the labels above the chart are dark, if so than you inadvertently minimized the chart – it happens, so don’t freak out!

Count Down Box & Go To Start
Count Down Box
The countdown box displays either the number of seconds remaining in an interval bar, the number of accumulated ticks for a tick chart or the accumulated volume for a volume chart. Additionally, it shows the time range for the portion of the chart currently visible.
Go To Start
The “Go To Start” object appears whenever the far right bar is not the first bar.
More often than not you will move the chart to the right and suddenly the setup bar does not sync with the last bar being displayed. Without this simple warning, you would probably think there is something wrong with T-Rex Trader – not user error!
You can drag both controls up and down along the right axis of the chart.

Chart Styles
Four basic chart styles are supported, Candle, Bar, Line and Area.
Chart Types
There are three chart types supported; Interval, Tick and Volume.
When an Interval chart is selected, four interval options are supported; Interval, Daily, Weekly and Monthly.
To select the chart type, right click on the bar period to the right of the symbol name.

The chart's time window can also be set using the same pannel.
